Angel Snow Shares New Video For Album Title Track “Magnetic” Ahead Of UK Tour

October 27, 2017 BY Nettwerk

Nashville’s Angel Snow transforms from Americana songstress to atmospheric pop chanteuse with her latest full-length album Magnetic. Produced by Lee Groves (Goldfrapp, Depeche Mode), Magnetic siphons stories of love, life, and loss through a dreamscape of drum palpitations, keyboard eloquence, and stark minimalism. Snow’s hypnotic delivery and cinematic lyrics entwined with Lee’s immersive and airy production conjure a spellbinding style.

To coincide with her intimate UK tour, which begins this week (full list of dates below), Angel has shared a video for the title track “Magnetic.” Watch it below.

“This is a video that was shot and orchestrated by Fairlight Hubbard and myself,” Angel told The Digital Fix. “Ultimately we went into a concept that explores a sort of ‘cosmic contemplation’ of the lyrics as Fairlight puts it.”

“The simple white sands and clean performance footage at the beginning travels through the stages of the eclipse that was filmed by Fairlight in totality in the US in Aug 2017. The video hints at ideas of being both small in the universe yet being connected to everything. It’s an otherworldly starry landscape that we felt was necessary to explore because of the undeniable connection we have with our creator both individually and with one another. Lyrically I feel (or hope rather) the song expresses that we are all one and we are all on a journey together. Those that witnessed the eclipse will likely relate to this feeling from the actual experience, for those that didn’t there’s this ‘cosmic token as a window in’ as Fairlight says. This video is so special to me and I’m so excited listeners will get to share in this creative experience with us.”

An in-demand songwriter and acclaimed independent artist, Angel’s road twisted and turned to get to this point. She wrote three songs on GRAMMY Award-winning singer Alison Krauss’s 2011 offering, Paper Airplane, as Nashville’s Music Row crowned her, “Nashville’s next stealth pop weapon.” Her 2012 self-titled debut spawned “These Days,” which notched 6 million-plus Spotify streams. After touring the globe, she desired to expand and evolve her style beyond traditional Americana and folk.

“I’ve always tried to create things that express who I am or explore the stories of the people around me,” Angel comments.  “Magnetic came from a very raw period in my life, and I think that shows. Lee was able to capture that vulnerability in each song and the music. This new soundscape has allowed me to experiment and try new things, in a way that is uncomfortable but at the same time necessary for me as an artist.”
