Magnetic energy pulses through the music of IAMTHELIVING. London-born and Vancouver-based, the singer, songwriter, producer, and performer Rian Peters channels charisma, emotion, soul, and spirit into every note of his alternative R&B. Today, he announces the release date for his highly anticipated debut album, Nebra Sky, dropping November 15, and unveils his captivating new single and video, “Open Space.”

Nebra Sky, Part 2 continues IAMTHELIVING’s journey of self-discovery with tracks like “Light Me Up,” blending acoustic guitar and organic drums to evoke the search for uplifting connections. “Trust The Journey” and “The Weekend” featuring Braxton Cook offer a bass-driven groove and funk-infused celebration. At the same time, “Let’s Talk About” and “Waterslide” explore themes of support and playful freedom.

IAMTHELIVING’s music consistently radiates positivity and inspiration. Part 1 laid the foundation with diverse tracks like the cinematic “Can’t Be Replaced,” the emotive “Calloused Heart,” and the tender “Make It Home Alive” featuring Jake Isaac, showcasing his multifaceted artistry.

Reflecting on “Open Space,” IAMTHELIVING shares, “It’s a song about the urge to escape the busy city life; when all the noise has become too much, the claustrophobia starts to sink in, and there is a need to reintegrate with Mother Nature. We are drawn towards a new light in an open space.”

He further explains, “For the video for ‘Open Space,’ we aimed to delve into the duality of existence and finding the balance within—a vital yet often overlooked value in our lives. Too much light can blind us, too much heat can burn us, and too much love can suffocate us. Through a blend of static buildups, fluid Steadicam movements, and the contrast between tight and wide framing, we sought to engage in a dialogue about the essential role of balance in our existence.”

His journey continues in earnest with Nebra Sky, the album.

IAMTHELIVING’s rise to prominence shines through accolades and achievements, such as receiving a 2021 JUNO Award nomination for “Traditional R&B/Soul Recording of the Year” and earning multiple nods for “R&B Artist of the Year” at the Western Canadian Music Awards. His recent UK/EU tour with BANNERS further solidified his position as a rising star in the music industry. This momentum continues with his upcoming performance at the EFG London Jazz Festival’s Opening Gala ‘Jazz Voice’ at Royal Festival Hall, where he will showcase his vocal talent accompanied by a festival orchestra of leading London session players under the direction of world-renowned conductor, Guy Barker.
