Alt-Rock Quartet The Haunt Challenges Seeking Validation in New Single “Ok”; New EP out 9/8

July 28, 2023 BY Jason Currell

Florida alt-rock quartet The Haunt’s latest single “OK” offers a raw and vulnerable look at the desire for validation and struggle for self-love.  The band, fronted by siblings Anastasia Grace Haunt [vocals] and Maxamillion “Max” Haunt [vocals, guitar, production], draws from personal experiences of toxic relationships in the spellbinding track, which will be featured on their newly announced EP Dead on Arrival, out September 8th via Nettwerk. Listen HERE.

“’OK’ is a lot to unpack, but the most important line of the song to me is, ‘they say, you’ll still be art without being admired… whoever said that is just a fucking liar.’ It’s sad to hear myself sing that, but the truth is that I have always really struggled with loving myself. It makes it easier when you’re in a relationship and getting that attention and energy from someone else. When you lose that it can feel like this void. You should be able to feel whole without other people there to validate it. This song is also about how toxic relationships can alter your perspective of yourself and make you want to change to be more of what someone else wants. A new haircut or losing weight really isn’t gonna make someone like you more,” exclaims Anastasia.

Dead on Arrival Tracklist:

  1. Shake
  2. This Won’t Go Over Well
  3. I’m Done
  4. More
  5. OK
  6. Overdose

Rounded out by Nat Smallish [bass], and Nick Lewert [drums], the full band will be bringing their high energy live show to cities across the U.S. supporting No Resolve and Halocene this fall. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit The Haunt’s website HERE.

Blossoming between shadows and sunshine, beauty resides in the midst of extremes. Manipulating textures of dark and light, The Haunt balance smoky and soulful vocals with cinematic soundscapes underpinned by shuddering rock, glitchy synth transmissions, and gothic electronic nuances. The Haunt conjure a singular vision equally steeped in alt-pop noir and controlled industrial chaos.

The Haunt gained traction with the 2018 self-titled EP, touring with everyone from Palaye Royale to The Hu and The Struts. Picking up the pace, 2019’s “Cigarettes & Feelings” amassed almost 13 million Spotify streams. In 2021, they collaborated with Matt Good [Asking Alexandria, Sleeping With Sirens, Hollywood Undead] on the Social Intercourse EP, and it arrived to widespread acclaim. They emerged as a dynamic and dangerous force as visceral as they are vulnerable and vital. Now with over 20 million streams and earning acclaim from Revolver, Outburn, Alternative Press, and many others, this unpredictable union powers a series of 2023 releases for Nettwerk Music Group produced by Maxamillion Haunt, Nick Lewert, Grammy Nominated Kevin Thrasher (Avril Lavigne, MGK, and Blink-182), and Seth Reger of the Grammy Award Winning production group The Stereotypes.
