London-born, Vancouver-based artist IAMTHELIVING—the moniker of Rian Peters—invites listeners on an exhilarating journey with the release of his highly anticipated album, Nebra Sky, out today. With a magnetic sound that pulses through each track, IAMTHELIVING infuses charisma, emotion, soul, and spirit into every note of his alternative R&B.
“I’m bringing a positive vibe,” says Rian. “I want to bring some light. That’s the theme of my music because it’s how I live. Even though I’ve faced some dark moments, I write songs that can lift me out of those places and ultimately help others do the same.”
IAMTHELIVING’s music consistently radiates positivity and inspiration. Part 1 laid the foundation with diverse tracks like the cinematic “Can’t Be Replaced,” the emotive “Calloused Heart,” and the tender “Make It Home Alive” featuring Jake Isaac, showcasing his multifaceted artistry.
Today’s release marks another step in IAMTHELIVING’s journey of self-discovery, featuring captivating tracks like “Light Me Up,” which beautifully combines acoustic guitar and organic drums to evoke the quest for uplifting connections. “Trust The Journey” and “The Weekend,” featuring Braxton Cook, deliver a bass-driven groove and a funk-infused celebration. Meanwhile, “Love So Divine” with Kitt and Knomadic showcases silky smooth vocals, and “Let’s Talk About It” and “Waterslide” delve into themes of support and playful freedom.
Nebra Sky resonates with themes of resilience, unity, and the power of community, encouraging everyone to embrace their individual journeys and uplift one another. Rian believes, “The power really lies with the people. When we come together for the sake of humanity, that’s when the world changes.”
IAMTHELIVING’s rise to prominence is underscored by notable accolades, including a 2021 JUNO Award nomination for “Traditional R&B/Soul Recording of the Year” and multiple nods for “R&B Artist of the Year” at the Western Canadian Music Awards. His recent UK/EU tour with BANNERS further solidified his status as a rising star in the music industry. This momentum continues with his upcoming performance at the EFG London Jazz Festival’s Opening Gala, ‘Jazz Voice,’ at Royal Festival Hall, where he will showcase his vocal talent alongside a festival orchestra of leading London session players under the direction of acclaimed conductor Guy Barker.
With Nebra Sky, IAMTHELIVING invites us all to celebrate the beauty of life and the power of music to uplift and unite.
