Alt Bedroom Anti-Pop Artist Danny Dwyer Announces Debut EP ‘Losers;’ Shares Colorfully Stylized New Video

Lorem darling, anti-pop artist and producer Danny Dwyer is excited to announce his debut EP, Losers, will be released on April 22, 2022. The EP is a love letter and a goodbye note to his rural stomping grounds of the Midwest. “I used to feel the need to exploit as much as possible from any opportunity,” Danny says of the way LA twisted him. “Now I want to work on my bike and make sense of where I come from and where I am. All of these things I’ve compartmentalized for so long are now colliding.” The result is a collection of coming-of-age songs that have one foot in Friday Night Lights and another in Harmony Korine’s Kids.
Danny shares the hazy new single, “Brokenhearted,” along with a colorfully curated video by director Paris Mumpower featuring Troy Dylan Allen dressed bikers and all sorts of stylized characters from wrestlers to nuns.
Danny explains, “We had the concept one night drunk at a wedding in Mexico. I had been panicking about turning in a video and scrambling to assemble a note full of ideas that would challenge even the most capable of directors. I shared the note with Paris and we both forgot about it as the drinks kept flowing and sitting and talking turned to dancing and running off into wine fields. A few days later she texts me and says, ‘do you remember the note you sent me? Let’s do it, let’s do the video.’ Without hesitation, I agree and handed her the reigns. From this point on I had the full-time job of watching in awe as she put it together. Pulling off every last detail, taking every psycho idea I scribbled into my notes app, and turning it into something beautiful. Taking a kid from Missouri’s fever dream about love and turning it into a fashion film, an art movie.”

“Brokenhearted” follows the raw title track, “Losers,” an emotional love letter and a portrayal of liberated youth. With roots in hip hop and alternative rock, the Missouri-born, LA-based artist-producer grew up balancing his time between dirt bikes, guitars, and Ableton. After racking up streams during SoundCloud’s golden era, his heat-seeking ears brought him big league attention and a one-way ticket to Hollywood. There he holed up in a downtown loft and threw his mad scientist mind at every DAW and instrument within striking distance. Danny has already been featured in playlists such as Spotify’s Lorem, Mellow Morning, Mellow Mood, Fresh Finds and Alternative R&B, and Apple’s INDIY, Day One, and has recently collaborated with Billy Lemos, RAC, Maria Isabel, Benny Sings, and MILK.
