Aisha Badru Announces Debut Album ‘Pendulum’; NPR’s “The Austin 100”

March 2, 2018 BY Nettwerk

“Aisha Badru sets her warm and inviting voice against an array of soft effects: synths, subtle vocal processing, beats that click and clatter quietly. As the dramatic tension builds, all that technology only enhances her songs’ sense of intimacy, pulling you closer until she might as well be whispering directly into your ear.” – NPR Music

Critically acclaimed New York folk-pop singer/songwriter Aisha Badru will release her full-length debut, Pendulum [Nettwerk], on Friday April 27, 2018.

Heralding the album’s arrival, she joined forces with Clash Mag to debut the new single “Fossil Fuels,” which is now available at all digital service providers. Of the song, the outlet said, “Each note feels expertly placed, with her soulful delivery set against some subtly intense electronics.”

Pairing minimalistic electronic production and a starkly chilling vocal, the single haunts and hypnotizes as she casts an unbreakable sonic spell. It’s yet another dimension of Pendulum. Additionally, the album includes the fan favorite “Bridges” as well as the powerful protest piece “Mind On Fire”—which has already totaled 10 million cumulative Spotify streams. Drawing widespread critical acclaim, Badru just landed on NPR Music’s prestigious annual “The Austin 100.” She joins 99 other breaking artists whom NPR is championing at SXSW 2018. As part of this feature, “Bridges” can be downloaded for free via their Official Site until April 1.

The Pendulum swings towards Badru’s artistic revolution in 2018.

Coveted playlists such as Your Favorite Coffeehouse, Morning Acoustic, Indie Acoustic, Feminist Friday, and more have touted her music, while Apple Music included her among Best of the Week.” She’s also garnered praise from the likes of Afropunk, Flaunt, Ones to Watch, and more.
