Ladytron Shares Explosive New Song + Video “I See Red”
October 17, 2025 BY Emma Orland
Today, beloved electronic pop group Ladytron release another new song + video, “I See Red,” out now via Nettwerk. Hot on the heels of September’s surprise release, “I Believe in You,” Ladytron unveil the eerie, hooky, kinetic tech-noir “I See Red.” Oscillator-heavy with a low-resolution clatter straight out of late 80s Manchester, “I See Red” is once again fresh and novel, yet unmistakably Ladytron.
A tale of futureshock, haunting, and premonition, “I See Red” comes with another hallucinatory pop video directed by Daniel Hunt. Amidst the analogue stroboscopic overload, we hear Helen Marnie insist “…this road we walk together cuts through a world undressed, oh I see red…”
In addition to new music, Ladytron announced a new RSD Black Friday release – ‘Nightlife,’ the definitive remix collection, on 2LP milky clear vinyl. The new compilation features classic remixes from Ladytron’s early career, and rare or unreleased mixes of some of their most loved tracks. Remixers include Tiësto, Soulwax, Sasha, Josh Wink, Erol Alkan, Zombie Nation, Underworld’s Darren Emerson, Playgroup, Simian Mobile Disco, and more.
‘Nightlife’ is an exclusive release for RSD Black Friday on November 28th. For more information, visit: https://recordstoreday.com/
Ladytron will also return to the stage with a limited run of UK shows in 2026. They’ll reemerge in their hometown of Liverpool at the Arts Club Theatre on March 19th, followed by dates in Manchester and Newcastle on March 20th and 21st, respectively. Tickets are on sale now. Spanning dance and indie movements since their formation in Liverpool at the end of the last millennium, Ladytron have earned a unique position by carving out new sonic and conceptual space, and refusing to abide by formula or trend. The trio—Helen Marnie, Daniel Hunt, and Mira Aroyo—rose from DIY beginnings on Liverpool’s 1990s underground scene to global acclaim, performing everywhere from Coachella to the Sydney Opera House, and sharing stages with Björk, Nine Inch Nails, and The Chemical Brothers.
Their early albums, 604 and Light & Magic, became touchstones of the early 2000s new electro wave, placing the group rather reluctantly at the forefront of the so-called Electroclash movement. Amongst Rolling Stone’s albums of the year, the dance music press also took Ladytron to its heart, with DJ Mag deeming Light & Magic “Dazzling. This album blows most contemporary home-spun dance-influenced pop music out of the water, and Mixmag proclaimed that “You’ll believe that Ladytron are the only band you ever really liked.”
Witching Hour and Velocifero followed, solidifying their influential status, with the band becoming a reference point, even a synonym for modern analogue electronic pop music. Christina Aguilera, a longtime fan, invited the group to write and produce for her, underlining Ladytron’s understated influence on the mainstream. Even one of their idols and influences – Neil Tennant of the Pet Shop Boys – described how he had instructed a mix engineer to make a track “sound like Ladytron.”
After an eight-year hiatus, their 2019 self-titled return was hailed as “near perfection” (Q Magazine), with NPR calling it “machine music full of urgency and menace.” When their 2002 hit “Seventeen” unexpectedly went viral on TikTok, it introduced Ladytron’s sound to a new generation and amassed hundreds of thousands of fan-made clips. Their legacy was further acknowledged with “Destroy Everything You Touch,” one of their most celebrated tracks, featured in the GRAMMY-nominated original Motion Picture Soundtrack of cult movie Saltburn, reaffirming Ladytron’s enduring appeal—proof that their music continues to create its own space in time.
