Indie-Folk Singer/Songwriter Harrison Storm Explores Heartbreak on “Moon and Back”
September 5, 2025 BY Emma Orland
Australian indie-folk singer-songwriter Harrison Storm mourns love lost in new single “Moon and Back” off his forthcoming album Empty Garden, out October 3rd (Nettwerk). The track offers hauntingly vulnerable vocals, while swelling arrangements and acoustic guitars allow fans to dive deeper into the ache of heartbreak. Listen HERE and watch HERE.
“Relationships can be made up of promises to each other over time. Big promises of the future, of stories we tell each other to fuel a dream, and tiny promises we tell each other everyday. But the pulls and tugs of life can redirect you to another path, a path that doesn’t align with your partner. Those times are some of the most harrowing and can break your heart in a way you didn’t know possible. ‘Moon and Back’ seeks to find that story, no matter how painful,” reflects Harrison.

Crafted over two years, Empty Garden features 10 soul-stirring songs born from heartache, reflection, and healing. The album chronicles Harrison’s inner journey, revealing new depths of vulnerability and emotional honesty. Alongside “Moon and Back,” Harrison has released the previous singles, “Someone Else” (feat. Winona Oak), “Temporary Friend,” “Follow On,” “For Your Love,” and “Find A Way,” all off the upcoming full-length. Follow Harrison Storm on socials for more details on Empty Garden.

Harrison discovered music’s therapeutic powers at an early age. Growing up in a culture of toxic masculinity, he would listen to artists like City and Colour, Angus Stone, and Jeff Buckley and feel less isolated. Those musicians inspired Harrison to pursue his own music career, and in 2015 he took to the streets in Melbourne to busk, where he made enough money to finance his debut EP Sense of Home. A record deal with Nettwerk soon followed, and over the course of the next seven years, Harrison released four EPs: gold certified Change It All (2017), Falling Down (2019), gold certified Be Slow(2020), and Under Dusk (2022) – the latter a collaboration with Enna Blake. Harrison’s songs have since racked up over 500 million streams, with radio plays on Australia’s triple j and the UK’s BBC Radio 2. The song “Sense of Home” was certified Gold in Canada in 2020. Now, withEmpty Garden on the way, Harrison is opening up more than ever.
