Toronto Alt-Rocker DYLYN Celebrates Lifelong Transformation On New Single “Late Bloomer”

June 27, 2025 BY Emma Orland

Today, Toronto-based alt-rocker DYLYN (aka Gwendolyn Lewis) celebrates the messy and beautiful process of transformation at any stage in life with “Late Bloomer.” The song pulses with DYLYN’s signature grit – driving beats, soaring melodies, and vulnerable lyrics. Listen HERE and watch HERE.

“‘Late Bloomer’ conveys a yearning to fully embrace life’s highs and lows, even if that means going against the grain. The song challenges the notion of “too late,” rejecting the idea that you need to have it all figured out by a certain age or stage,” states Gwen.

“Late Bloomer” is a continuation of DYLYN’s recent EP, Heavy, released this past May and featured on her forthcoming album. The soul-baring five-track project, mastered by Dave Cooley (Paramore, M83), is a cathartic journey through moments of crushing heartbreak and turbulent emotions. Listen to the Heavy EP HERE. Stay tuned for more details on her forthcoming full-length album coming soon.

You may have heard Gwen’s voice when she landed in the Top 10 on various Billboard charts with “Fly Away” and “Crazy Crazy,” and supported pop stars on tour under the name of Guinevere. She used this momentum to follow her internal compass to DYLYN. In 2018, she released her independent debut EP, Sauvignon and a Kimono. Impacting multiple strata of culture, the lead single “Secret” tallied millions of Spotify streams and inspired thousands of fan videos throughout the anime community, including Gacha Life, where she received her avatar. She remained prolific with a pair of EPs—Let You and Only Us—before the EP Make It Naked in 2021. From there, she released her debut album The Sixty90s in 2022. Produced by Ryan Guldemond (of Mother Mother) and Parker Bossley (bassist for The MountiesHot Hot Heat), the 13 tracks cemented her vision of a confluence of eras, styles, and emotions. Now, with the release of Heavy, DYLYN is ready for the next phase in her career.
