Danny Dwyer Taps Daniel Fang (Turnstile) To Remix Viral Hit “mice band”
February 18, 2025 BY Bailey Vigliaturo
LA-via-Missouri artist/producer Danny Dwyer and Instagram account @ClipModeGo have taken the Internet by storm with a talented band of AI-generated mice, and they’re showing no signs of slowing down. After Danny’s viral hit “mice band” accumulated north of 500,000 streams across DSPs within a month of release, Daniel Fang (drummer for Turnstile, Angel Du$t and Praise) created a remix for the song that keeps the mousy mayhem going.
Fang first heard the original “mice band” song through a post from ClipModeGo, who began randomly using a 2022 demo of Danny’s (which would later become “mice band”) for a video series where a band of AI-generated mice interrupt viral clips. Like many others, Fang initially thought that the song, like the mice, was AI-generated. When Danny revealed himself as the creator of the song (and that he used no AI in the process), Fang fell in love with the track and the mice, describing the accompanying lore as “Shakespearean.” Fang’s remix adds thunderous congas, mousy squeaks and snippets of dialogue from sci-fi video game series Half-Life to the already searing indie tune.
“It shocked me because every AI song I’ve ever heard has felt completely hollow,” shares Fang, “but here was this instantly catchy and emotional song that defies the soulless archetype. When the mice band song got linked to Danny, it felt like such a victory. In the end, humanity had won. And so much more of the world has been introduced to the amazing artist that Danny Dwyer is.“
“I’m honored to leave a footprint in the epic canon of mice band,” he concludes.
The band of mice have captured the hearts of thousands, and the trend has become so large that Know Your Meme created an explanation page, Pigeons and Planes published a social media post about Danny, and one fan went to great lengths to make a documentary on the mice’s origins.
After years of being the artist who inspires your favorite artist (and touring with, writing, and producing for them, too), Danny shared his latest EP From the horse’s mouth on January 31, with contributions from the likes of Jeremy Zucker, Abhi Raju (Dijon, Brockhampton), Brandon Shoop (The 1975, Role Model) and Lava La Rue (just opened for Remi Wolf on tour). But the unique rollout for “mice band” revealed that Danny is just as ahead of the curve with social media trends and AI technology as music, specifically when it comes to “brain rot” content.
With the lore of the mice continuing to grow and new snippets being teased, it’s clear this is only the beginning for this outside-the-box partnership.
