Slowly Slowly Share New Single “How Are You Mine?”; New Album “Forgiving Spree” Out January 24

December 6, 2024 BY Emma Orland

Before the year is out, Slowly Slowly share one final preview of their forthcoming album with joyous new single, “How Are You Mine?”. The band’s fifth studio album Forgiving Spree is due for release on Friday January 24 via Nettwerk. You can listen to the single HERE, and pre-save the album HERE

Love, captured in the vivid imagery and striking metaphors synonymous with frontman Ben Stewart’s songwriting, is a theme listeners will find weaved throughout Forgiving Spree, and on new single “How Are You Mine?” it is front and centre.

Reflecting on the stabilising, balancing nature of a “love so alkaline” that changes you for

the better, the track’s buoyant, hip-shaking melody and singalong-ready, earworm hook ensures “How Are You Mine?” is another taste of Slowly Slowly’s ability to marry heartfelt lyricism with an undeniable pop-rock energy. Notably, it is one of the oldest songs on the record, marking Ben’s initial foray into more positive songwriting, capturing the essence of love’s transformative power, and standing in contrast to his earlier, more melancholic themes.

“It’s a celebration song,” Stewarts says. “I struck the lottery. I’d built this persona as the lonely sad guy, and it’s like shedding skin. I can be happy.”

Born from the excitement of the Melbourne quartet’s tour in support of 2022 predecessor Daisy Chain, new album Forgiving Spree is a record tailormade for the stage, stacked with singalong anthems that lean into Slowly Slowly’s pop sensibilities – think hip-shaking grooves, infectious melodies, sonic hooks for days, and choruses ready-made for live show singalongs – brimming with lyrics that lean into frontman and songwriter Ben Stewart’s signature introspective life reflections shared using clever wordplay.

After making their UK and European debut in September supporting fellow Aussies Stand Atlantic, Slowly Slowly have made their UK return, currently on tour supporting Liverpool four-piece Crawlers. Not slowing down on the live front, the four-piece have already locked in two of their biggest headline runs to date. In March 2025, they’ll embark on their first-ever UK and European headline tour –an 11-date run that includes stops in Glasgow, Manchester, London, Paris, Berlin, and more. The following month, in April, they’ll return to Australia, journeying across Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne alongside Honey Revenge (USA) and Grayscale (USA).
