After releasing his latest album in October, the acclaimed BENJAMIN, UK soul singer/songwriter Jake Isaac is back with a new single.
Out today, ‘EVER YOURS (B-Side)’ – a reworked version of the album track ‘EVER YOURS’ – now featuring the incredible talents of LA-based R&B vocalist Otis Kane and saxophonist Braxton Cook, adding an extra dimension to the original song. Listen HERE and watch the video below.
Jake explained “This is a song about the idea of something lasting forever. It feels so far and rare; the idea of people lasting forever and I felt like I wanted to talk about the possibility of it still happening in all its mess and ups and downs.”
“’Ever Yours’ was and has always been a special song for me on my recent record ‘Benjamin’, to have the incredible Otis Kane AND Braxton Cook on this version bringing their creative genius has not only added another layer of colour and emotion to the song but has caused it to come alive for me in a way I totally didn’t even see coming!”.
BENJAMIN is an album that presents an autobiographical portrait of who Jake Isaac is at this moment in his life. It’s a soul-searching confessional of stories, emotions and experiences in which Jake introduces the man behind the artist in his most authentic way yet. Of course, an artist and their personality are often innately interlinked and what emerges is a son, a husband and a father who is achieving great things in his life – but someone who has the courage and introspection to also expose the things that he would like to change about himself. The album is available to stream HERE.
The old maxim that the more you put into something the more you get back rings especially true for Jake Isaac and his latest album BENJAMIN. The record sees him daring to confront the big issues in his life that really matter – family, faith, heritage, hope, love and a whole lot more – all channelled with a searing voice of soul sophistication and powered by a gospel heart. Tracks such as ‘GOOD MAN’, ‘BLACK OR WHITE’ and ‘EVER YOURS’ have all been playlisted on BBC Radio 2. This new chapter in Jake’s story has been further explored with a cover feature in Echoes Magazine and an in-depth interview with The Line of Best Fit.
Jake’s goals for BENJAMIN were simple: he wanted to reveal much more about himself via his music, just like his towering influences Billie Holiday, Etta James and Otis Redding achieved in such gracious style. Once those themes flowed out of him, he aimed to amplify their emotions by capturing them with music that’s warm, resonant and engaging: something which reflects his past as a musical director for live performances from artists such as Duffy.
Jake says, “I feel like deep down I’ve waited a long time to make this album. An album that truly reflects my musical upbringing and other dynamics in my life that go beyond just the topic of romance.”
