Electronic act Miami Horror Returns After 9 Years with New Single “TOGETHER” + Forthcoming Album in Early 2025
September 16, 2024 BY Bailey Vigliaturo
Miami Horror, led by Australian-born, LA-based electronic producer Benjamin Plant, has arrived with their new single, “TOGETHER.” Marking the highly anticipated return after a nine-year album hiatus, “TOGETHER” is a foretaste of one of many layers to their forthcoming concept album, a deeply personal exploration of adolescence, growth, and the universe’s interconnectedness.
“TOGETHER” is a nostalgic anthem about unity that encapsulates the innocent optimism of childhood. Built around a captivating sample from underground soul legend Errol Stubbs, the track is a vibrant fusion of downtempo disco and indie pop. Co-produced by Styalz Fuego (Troye Sivan, Tate McCrae, The Knocks), “TOGETHER” sees Miami Horror collaborating with Bajan singer-songwriter Ayoni, Australian singer-songwriter Ngaiire, and Gold Coast-based singer-songwriter Beckah Amani on vocals.
Miami Horror shares the following about the song’s significance:
“‘TOGETHER’ was originally about coming together, as we wanted to remind people about unity in a time when we were experiencing so much division. We grew up in a time where countries felt more united, and people had more of a ‘love thy neighbor’ approach to life. As we were playing around with the sample, we felt the song had a childlike innocence that we also wanted to channel. It reminded us of the nostalgic childhood emotions we felt toward music, when it wasn’t pretentious, when it felt somewhat magic, and a song could feel like an adventure. We’ve always admired songs that resonate across all ages, whether you’re a child or a grandparent.”
“TOGETHER” comes on the heels of last week’s subtle release, the 71-second prelude, “BEYOND US.” Miami Horror expresses, “‘BEYOND US’ is a teaser and tone setter for the album. We were really happy that we could cover the cosmos, young love, nostalgia, contemplations of existence and the cycle of life within one scene. Almost all of the album’s themes. We love concept albums and the adventure of an album. You see much less of that these days, especially in an era where fleeting 2-min songs dominate. This inspired us to lead with ‘BEYOND US,’ instead of a single as a statement to emphasize this album will be a journey.”
