LEISURE kick into the summer groove on new single “Always”
June 2, 2023 BY Jason Currell
Auckland soul, RnB and pop collective LEISURE unveil their sunny new single ‘Always’, out today (June 2nd) on Nettwerk.
‘Always’ is the lead single from the band’s fourth LP Leisurevision set for release on September 29th and sets the tone with a blissed-out pop gem. Funk-laden bass, sugary sweet vocal melodies and a disco-inspired groove provide the track’s spine, while cool synth and elegant strings take the production to new heights.
Speaking about the track, LEISURE explained, “So much has happened in our worlds since the last record and in a lot of ways life has highlighted how important it is to be surrounded by the people we love. ‘Always’ begins a new phase in our LEISURE journey by acknowledging those we couldn’t continue on without.”

As well as a string of singles beginning with ‘Always’, the release of Leisurevision will also be accompanied by a headline tour in autumn spanning across North America and Canada, in what promises to be a huge 2023 for the band. Full list of dates below.
In a world preoccupied with instant gratification and overnight success, LEISURE is taking the scenic route. The five members – and mates – came together in 2015 on a spontaneous trip up New Zealand’s ragged west coast. At that stage, they’d independently spent years churning through the music machine’s tight jaws. Today, three studio albums later, they’ve had 250+ million streams, a collaboration with Goldlink, and sold-out dates throughout NZ, Australia, the UK and Europe. Individually, the five are award-winning songwriters, producers and creatives. Together, they resolved to carve out a new musical paradigm: cut the crap, enjoy the ride and above all, keep it LEISURE.
With Leisurevision set for release on September 29th, lead single ‘Always’ kicks off LEISURE’s new album campaign as it means to continue with effortless groove, irresistible melodies and blissed-out vibes.
