Luke Sital-Singh Shares Achingly Intimate Single “Hallelujah Anyway”

Today, UK singer, songwriter and producer Luke Sital-Singh shares the arresting single “Hallelujah Anyway” from his upcoming Strange Weather EP, out June 9 via Nettwerk. “Hallelujah Anyway” channels the intimacy of Luke’s approach, as if he’s letting you eaves drop on a conversation late at night. Driven by chords played on “an old electric piano from the sixties,” the stark instrumentation draws a spotlight to his verses and the refrain’s uplifting affirmation, “Can I sing ‘Hallelujah Anyway,’ when the days are long and the night won’t fade?”

“I’m trying to push myself to be happier,” he admits. “I’m a pessimistic person. I’m always worried. To me, it’s a universal message—we all go through tough times, and we can’t really get away from it. It’s just about how you deal with it. It’s also a ‘We’ song for my wife and me. We go through everything together, and it feels like we’re a unit in terms of how we look at the world.”

“Hallelujah Anyways” initially earned a placement on the ABC drama Station 19 last fall, inciting fan anticipation for its arrival and landing it at #2 on Tunefind’s 2022 year-end “Best Unreleased Songs” list. The single is accompanied by a special video, filmed in Los Angeles last month with the “Hearts Afire Community Choir Singers,” a local South Los Angeles choir led by director Arnae Batson, a Grammy-nominated singer, songwriter, and song leader. Luke introduced the Strange Weather EP earlier this year with its gorgeous title track, which Glide called “sweet, simple, and focused on honoring the song,” and American Pancake called “pure beauty.” Strange Weather follows last fall’s Dressing Like A Stranger, an eleven-song collection penned by the London-born songwriter as he moved halfway across the globe to Los Angeles just before the world shut down.
