MAINE INDIE-POP ARTISTBAY LEDGES SHARES DEBUT ALBUM RITUAL; U.S. TOUR STARTS JUNE 7TH
May 27, 2022 BY Jason Currell
Today, indie electro-pop artist Bay Ledges shares his long-awaited debut album, Ritual. A 13-song record written, produced, and mixed entirely by Zach Hurd, that translates Bay Ledges’ expressive, almost avant-garde style onto a larger canvas. Exploring transience, nostalgia, and Hurd’s own relationship to music and art, it’s a meditative record that’s still as psychedelic and thrilling as anything Hurd has released. Written and recorded at a time of great upheaval in Hurd’s life, it carries with it an air of intense possibility. In celebration, he shares the official video for “DMT” explaining, “DMT is kind of like the opening credits to this album. It’s a blend of my two musical worlds: intimate guitar/vocals and bigger, more playful, moments of production. The song’s a reflection on how much music has helped me in my life… the title stands for ‘Dear Music, Thanks.’”

Bay Ledges’ headline Ritual Tour in June is now on sale. The tour follows his sold-out February headlining dates that included stops like Mercury Lounge in NYC and Globe Hall in Denver and a stint on the West Coast opening for Magic City Hippies. The June tour will include stops at iconic venues like The Troubadour in Los Angeles, Cat’s Cradle in Chapel Hill, NC, and the Rickshaw Stop in San Francisco. A complete list is below.
Zach Hurd started Bay Ledges in his bedroom after moving to Los Angeles from a small town in coastal Maine in 2015. It began as an attempt to make fun, creative sounds with no expectation. Chopped-up guitar lines, playful beats, and manipulated vocals made for soulful, glitchy songs with a feeling of nostalgia. The project took off when Hurd’s 2016 single, “Safe,” jumped to number three on Spotify’s Global Viral Chart. He has toured all over the US and Canada, sharing the stage with such acts as Yoke Lore and The Palms.
