Nashville Singer-Songwriter Bre Kennedy Signs To Nettwerk; Shares “Thick Skin (Acoustic),” Tour With Joy Oladokun Starts 4/7
March 11, 2022 BY Jason Currell
Nettwerk Music Group is excited to announce the signing of Bre Kennedy, a Nashville-based singer and songwriter who creates music soaked in rich, timeless storytelling with innate pop sensibilities. Her latest single, “Thick Skin (Acoustic),” is a moving acoustic version of the triumphant anthem from her debut album, Note To Self, which she self-released in October 2021. Themes of self-growth, reflection, and over-coming shine through even more brightly with this stripped-back recording. It is one of four songs from her upcoming EP Note To Self (Acoustic), set for release on April 15th. “Thick Skin (Acoustic)” is available tomorrow at all digital retailers here.
This weekend, Bre heads to Austin, TX for SXSW, where she’ll play Prime Video ‘Superheroes & Superstars Experience’ on Friday, March 12 before appearing at Nettwerk’s official showcase—presented by Ones To Watch, Women In Music, and The Ally Coalition—on Wednesday, March 16. Next month, she’ll embark on a North American tour supporting her friend and fellow Nashville artist, Joy Oladokun. All tour dates are below.

Kennedy grew up in a musical household, taking in the greats like Tom Petty, Heart, Aretha Franklin, and Carole King. After a brief stint in LA, she hopped in her Nissan and headed to Nashville where she discovered her true musical identity. Kennedy admits, “It was a lot of searching for what I wanted to say as an artist, and somehow I found that in Nashville amongst a community of incredible songwriters who inspired me to make music I loved.”
She self-released her Jealous of Birds EP in 2019, followed by 2020’s Twenty Something EP, and her 2021debut album, Note To Self, all of which appeared on Spotify’s New Music Friday playlist and the latter of which saw Kennedy grace the cover of the Today’s Singer-Songwriters. In the past couple of years, Kennedy has sold-out Nashville’s historic Exit In and has supported such renowned artists as Sheryl Crow, Gary Clark Jr., and Birdtalker. Media has also taken notice, with outlets like Billboard, Paste, American Songwriter, and Atwood singing her praises. At the end of 2021, Kennedy signed to Nettwerk and is currently working on new music.
Bre Kennedy joins Nettwerk’s expanding label roster, which also includes Wrabel, Mokita, SYML, Wild Rivers, Old Sea Brigade, and others. Stay tuned for more music and info.
