New Signing MEGA Shares “Be Good Be Kind”; Listen Here
February 14, 2022 BY Penny Palmer
Contemporary soul artist Mega has returned with her poignant new single ‘Be Good Be Kind’ today via Nettwerk Records, stream here.
Written shortly after the passing of British television & radio presenter Caroline Flack, Mega was deeply affected by the news, with the sensitive topics hitting close to home for her. Speaking further about the track Mega says “In a world where you can be anything, be kind”. A friend sent me this Instagram post when Caroline Flack posted it. I think this was one of her last Instagram posts. I didn’t know Caroline Flack personally but I’ve always believed that everyone we meet is fighting a battle that we know nothing about, so it’s important to be kind, always.”
“I hope the song can encourage anyone that is struggling with their mental health to reach out for help, and I hope it will be a gentle reminder to them that they are not alone. I also hope that it can build a community of support, love, and kindness. ‘When we are kind to ourselves, we are inherently kind to others’ – I read this once and I believe it to be true.”
Having started her career singing in choirs in her native North London, Mega is cementing herself as one of the strongest voices in London’s contemporary soul scene. After being selected as a finalist in MOBOs UnSung‘s rising talent competition, her debut single “Chariot” proved to be instantly impactful, amassing over 10 million combined streams and counting. Her 2020 debut EP Future Me saw support across the board from the likes of BBC Radio 1, BRITs Sunday Spotlight, NME, The Independent, CLASH, Mahogany, Wonderland, and more.
Taking inspiration from all aspects of life, Mega’s compelling songwriting explores themes of self-esteem, self-love, and growth, carefully transforming these hefty topics into relatable and emotive remedies, stirring the heartstrings. Her second EP is due later this year.
