Together Pangea Share Fiery New Video Tackling Global Warming For “Rapture;” LP ‘DYE’ out 10/22
September 21, 2021 BY Nettwerk
Together Pangea share their new single “Rapture,” a snarling commentary on the problematic relationship between religion, government, and the horrific devastation from global warming, including all the never-ending wildfires. The track is the latest from their upcoming album DYE (October 22nd), an upbeat, undeniable collection of hooks, anthems, and power-pop garage-rock catchiness.
When asked about the fiery video, the band explains, “People have become so desensitized to the climate crisis. We hear about and see images of natural disasters associated with the worsening climate situation so often that most of us have developed a callus to it. The video is meant to provoke a visceral response to seeing all these images and the lyrics to the song are about how some christians welcome these disasters as a sign of the end times when they will be saved by their devotion to god.“

“Rapture” follows their fuzzy anxiety filled anthem “Nervous” (which Rolling Stone called “introspective lyricism with whip-smart alt-rock compositions and clever choruses), the hook-driven, crunchy “One Way or Another” (which Consequence called “Another catchy cut of garage rock”), and the infectious “Nothing To Hide” (which Buzzbands.la called a “relentlessly catchy rocker”).
Together Pangea will celebrate the release of DYE with a special hometown headline show at LA’s The Troubadour on Saturday, October 23rd, and will headline Chad’s Home Fest on November 20th at the Glass House in Pomona, CA, where a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Border Angels Foundation. The band will also support Jimmy Eat World on an Europe/UK tour in 2022. All dates are below.
Since they began jamming back in William’s Santa Clarita bedroom, Los Angeles indie band Together Pangea have continually challenged themselves with each subsequent offering. Jelly Jam [2010] poured the gasoline, Living Dummy [2011] struck the match, and Badillac [2014] lit the fire with its revved-up nineties rock-inspired flames. Along the way, fan favorites like “Sick Shit,” “Badillac,” and “Offer” would rack up millions of Spotify streams, while the group received support from Consequence of Sound, Pitchfork, MTV, Stereogum, and more. Following the 2015 release of The Phage EP, produced by The Replacements’ Tommy Stinson, these working class boys embarked on the journey to what would become 2017’s Bulls and Roosters, which evidenced their growth as a tried-and-true rock band with just the right amount of “brattiness,” as they like to say. Before the global pandemic took over, Together Pangea brought their raucous live shows to sold-out audiences across the U.S., Canada, Mexico, UK, Europe and Australia, both headlining and sharing the stage with bands like Vundabar, Tijuana Panthers, and Alkaline Trio.
