Vök Shares New Single “Erase You” + Announces UK Headline Dates
January 14, 2019 BY Nettwerk
“Vök makes a lot of sense in a country (Iceland) with such an amazing landscape.” – Stereogum
“The hype around Margrét Rán and co isn’t the result of any high school hangover but in fact completely justified.” – Clash
“Easy-listening songs that have unexpected, plunging depths.” – Consequence of Sound
Icelandic electronic dream-pop trio Vök have shared “Erase You“, the latest single from their second full-length LP In The Dark, slated for release on March 1st via Nettwerk Music Group.
As with previous singles (“Autopilot” and “Night & Day“), “Erase You” sees the band exploring their ‘pop sound’ even further than before. An exciting catchy R&B number, it’s a song about “a person who pushed me off the edge to a point when all I wanted to do was to erase them from my life“, explained singer Margrét Rán. “The lyrics are a bit naive but really straight forward which it was the intention. I co-wrote it with James Earp and we had a great fun writing the song because we could definitely relate to this frustration so we exaggerated the immoral lyrics a bit.”

These singles are the trio’s first new material since the release of their critically acclaimed debut album Figure in 2017, which last year won Album of the Year in the Icelandic Music Awards (a category that also featured Auður and Kiasmos).
Written and recorded by Margrét Rán & Einar Stef in collaboration with UK producer James Earp (Bipolar Sunshine, Fickle Friends, Lewis Capaldi), their forthcoming new album In the Dark sees Vök creating their most immediate sounding and most accessible album yet. Recorded in the band’s home studio in Reykjavík, Iceland and in Notting Hill, London in early 2018, each song on In the Dark has its own definable character or theme, from Night & Day’s ‘obsession’ to the crushing ‘disappointment’ in Autopilot.
After a successful tour with Editors throughout Germany & Poland late last year, the band will be returning to Europe next month for a huge 21-date headline tour, including 5 UK dates. Full list of shows below.
