After releasing their well-received single “OneFourThree (feat. Buddy and BJ The Chicago Kid)”, Australia’s Hermitude drop a 2-track care package with “Dusk Till Dawn,” featuring the vocal eccentric Vic Mensa and turnup anthem “Swerve” featuring Wes Period. The hip-hop-influenced electronic innovators have put their blood sweat and tears to create their most special album to date and are showing no signs of slowing down.
On the heels of his newly formed band 93PUNX and their debut album, Vic Mensa continues to blur the lines of Hip Hop and Rock in “Dusk Till Dawn,” keeping it real with his iconic cadence while seamlessly belting out his raw emotion which pairs perfectly with Hermitude’s dark and gloomy melodic trap production.
“So mad to work with Vic, dude is such a talent,” Hermitude tells Billboard in a joint statement. “It was amazing to watch him come up with hooks and bars on the spot and just flow. He brings his realness to everything he does, and ‘Dusk till Dawn’ is no exception.”
In addition to “Dusk Till Dawn,” the Australian duo link with West Coast rap fan-favorite Wes Period with “Swerve,” providing an all-out-party experience with his vastly unique style.
The album’s name is a reflection on finding clarity in the chaos. Releasing on September 27, Pollyanarchy is a record of the time spent to meticulously sculpt, experiment and create a piece of work that skillfully blends a diverse assemblage of features like BJ The Chicago Kid, Buddy, Bibi Bourelly, Haiku Hands, Hoodlem, Soaky Sirens, Vory, Electric Fields, in addition to the aforementioned Mensa and Period. In and amongst the eleven tracks, Hermitude has yet again produced a future-facing album of coherence and variety that showcases a wide range of influences, from late-night R&B to deep pitched basslines and trap-inflected hooks. The list of collaborations notes the distance in which their music has taken them, bending genres and bridging the gap between electronic music and hip-hop.
To support the album, Hermitude head out on their biggest headline tour, with shows in Korea, China, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, USA, Canada, New Zealand and Australia. While in the states they will be doing several music festivals, including Life Is Beautiful in Las Vegas, alongside Chance The Rapper, Post Malone and Vampire Weekend.
