San Cisco Shares Official Music Video For “Skin”

Indie pop band San Cisco – Jordi Davieson, Joshua Biondillo, and Scarlett Stevens – made their long-awaited return with the latest single “Skin,” the first track from their upcoming album that is slated for release in 2020. Today, the trio share the accompanying music video for the track.
“For the Skin video, we teamed up with Melbourne director Freya Esders to create a sunlit, textural and atmospheric world reminiscent of the 70s. It was shot on 16mm film in and around the suburbs of Melbourne with the final scene captured at an airfield near Tullamarine. We wanted to showcase the band whilst also highlighting the themes of the song – the yearning for a love that is lost and the way we carry these emotions and memories through our lives,” says Scarlett.
Director Freya Esders is an Australian filmmaker who has created editorial and film content for outlets such as Oyster Magazine and i-D as well as artists like Two People, Kllo, Lucianblomkamp and more.
“Skin” sees the three-piece wear their vulnerability on their sleeve to showcase a more sensitive, sassy approach with lyrics that explore themes of heartbreak, hopelessness, and living at the mercy of your soon-to-not-be lover’s decisions. “the song is about being left by a partner that was meant to be ‘forever.’ Being frustrated with the fact you have no control of the situation and living at the mercy of your soon to not be lover’s decisions. You still see a small glimmer of hope, but ultimately it’s over,” says Davieson.
Recorded in Byron Bay Australia, the band enlisted award-winning producer and long-time collaborator Steven Schramm, with added production and mixing from POND’s James Ireland and producer/engineer Broderick Madden-Scott. “Skin” is the next chapter from a young band that continues to excite.
