Toronto Bedroom Pop Artist Aunty Social Remixed by FaltyDL
May 15, 2020 BY Nettwerk
Aunty Social (real name Daniela Gitto) shares the first of several remixes of tracks from her debut EP, The Day My Brain Broke. Out today is New York producer FaltyDL’s take on her video game inspired single, “Cortex.” Daniela explains, “I hope this gets everyone dancing as much as it got me to! It’s a true honour to have Faltys signature style bring a new sound to my song.” FaltyDL adds, “The muse behind the remix was easy to find, I heard it immediately in Aunty Social’s vocals. Normally, I’d spend most of my time rebuilding vocals in a remix. In this case, I focused on supporting the already stellar vocal performance.” The upcoming remixes will include new versions of other EP tracks from Porches, FWAR and jennylee of Warpaint. More details to be announced.

The debut from the Toronto bedroom pop artist documents a period of isolation and evolution as she worked her way out of a destructive lifestyle. “There are a lot of underlying mental health things that intertwine everything together” says Daniela. To bring light to others also facing mental health challenges, she joined Chris Martin of Coldplay, Gnash, Echosmith, Eloheim and more this past weekend at the online 320 Festival. The festival is the brainchild of the late Chester Bennington of Linkin Park’s wife Talinda Bennington. Watch her performance here.
The moniker Aunty Social comes from Daniela’s past periods of isolation, when she’d use music as a therapeutic aid to address her own struggles with mental health. Her talent and artistic abilities have already caught the attention of tastemaker outlets like Consequence of Sound, Line Of Best Fit, Earmilk, Collide, Ladygunn, Refinery 29, Vanyaland, Ghettoblaster and influential Spotify playlists like Indie Pop, Outliers and Fresh Finds.
