jennylee (Warpaint) Reworks Bedroom Pop Artist Aunty Social

Los Angeles based indie icon jennylee (of Warpaint and her own solo project) shares a remix of 24-year-old bedroom pop artist Aunty Social’s (real name Daniela Gitto) track “Crack A Deal.” jennylee explains “I had the pleasure of remixing an angel… I didn’t want to approach it as one would when asked …. I wanted to bring the emotion out in the song… like a great songwriter, I feel she really left it open for interpretation …I was over the moon to express what I took from it all…and I’m really grateful she trusted me to do so… I hope y’all enjoy it as much as I do.”

The steady beat-driven take on the track is the final of a collection of remixes of Aunty Social’s 2020 debut EP, The Day My Brain Broke. The other remixes are by Porches, FaltyDL and FWAR.
The Day My Brain Broke documents a period of isolation (pre-Covid-19) and evolution as Daniela worked her way out of a destructive lifestyle. “There are a lot of underlying mental health things that intertwine everything together” says Daniela. The moniker Aunty Social is a tongue and cheek reference to when she would hole up alone inside and use music as a therapeutic aid to address her own struggles with mental health. Her talent and artistic abilities have already caught the attention of tastemaker outlets like Consequence of Sound, Line Of Best Fit, Earmilk, Collide, Ladygunn, Refinery 29, Vanyaland, Ghettoblaster and influential Spotify playlists like Indie Pop, Outliers and Fresh Finds.
