Last week, rising singer and songwriter MEGA aka Megaishername proudly announced her new body of work, I Am Enough, due out on September 26th via Nettwerk. After showcasing her commanding vocal prowess on the title track last month, “I Am Enough,” MEGA returns with “Roots,” an awe-inspiring reflection on her origins, personal growth, and the unshakable foundation that lies beneath adversity. With I Am Enough, MEGA provides the antidote to insecurity and encourages listeners to find confidence in themselves, especially in troubling times. Coming at a timely moment, the nostalgic song speaks on themes of home, identity, community and returning to what really matters as tender acoustic guitars underpin MEGA’s arresting vocal melody. The chorus blossoms into a full ensemble harmony, highlighting that no one is alone in their soul-searching journey. You’ll always have what’s in your roots.
MEGA shares: “‘Roots’ is a grounding, soul-searching anthem about reconnecting with your foundation when life gets noisy. It explores identity, self-worth, and finding strength in where you come from. Inspired by moments of doubt and reflection, this track is a reminder that our roots hold the key to clarity, courage, and a reset. When we feel lost, returning to what makes us us is how we find our way back.”
Written while recovering from toxic environments that diminished her sense of self, MEGA conceived her new EP, I Am Enough, as a way to reclaim herself and find the strength to transform her fear to empowerment. The five songs unfold like a “mini book,” with each song walking through a chapter of her evolution. As MEGA’s most confident and self-realized release to date, I Am Enough echoes why she’s become a beloved artist and showcases a promising new talent poised to take the world by storm.

ABOUT MEGA:
MEGA recently headlined and performed at the Southbank Centre’s celebrated contemporary music festival, Meltdown, to a rapturous response from fans. The power of her music is evident in its unique ability to connect with a global fanbase and unite people from every walk of life. The communal nature is palpable when MEGA plays live – a remarkable sight. The 30th edition of the festival was curated by Little Simz and MEGA was joined on the bill by other hand-picked artists, including The Streets, Sasha Keable, Lola Young, Ghetts, and Jon Batiste.
Early champions include The Independent, NME, Wonderland, Clash, and BBC Radio 1. Her debut single, Chariot—a radiant anthem of hope and resilience—has now surpassed 50 million streams and led to two acclaimed EPs, Future Me and Colour Your World, praised for their mix of traditional African rhythms, empowering messages, and themes of mental resilience. MEGA first discovered her passion for singing in an opera choir, and then, like many of the greatest vocalists, sang in a youth gospel choir (the legendary St Mary’s alma mater of Leona Lewis and Little Simz). On her third EP, Honour and Glory, MEGA took her artistry even further, tapping into her roots, reminding listeners to pause, protect their energy, and embrace every version of themselves. Her music is a vivid tapestry of influences, drawing from her Ugandan heritage, childhood experiences in choirs, and love of a broad spectrum of genres including soul, pop, and indie.
Rather than searching for our place in the world, MEGA’s music invites us to look within and appreciate our own essence. In an ever more chaotic global environment, the listener can step into the world with the confidence to connect with it and boldly claim our dreams and existence.
