San Jose Mellow Beatmaker Knowmadic Signs to Nettwerk, Announces ‘rain check’ LP

June 28, 2024 BY Bailey Vigliaturo

Nettwerk is thrilled to announce the signing of San Jose-based lofi beatmaker and multi-instrumentalist Knowmadic. He joins the likes of Fletcher ReedOatmellotakeo and Chris Mazuera in Nettwerk’s lofi beatmaker community. Today, Knowmadic announces his forthcoming album rain check, his first with Nettwerk.

Emerging as an unassuming phenomenon, Knowmadic’s signature laid-back style has consistently captivated audiences, yielding over 100 million streams and counting to date. Steadily gaining traction on SoundCloud, his 2017 single “Fade” and 2019 track “Faces” truly catapulted him into the beatmaker-to-watch conversation. Press began to catch on, with Content Magazine applauding how “he makes a point of continuing to push boundaries and take risks.”

Created in Knowmadic’s apartment bedroom, rain check employs a variety of Ableton plugins to create a foggy, hazy aura, reminiscent of a rainy day. The wry humor of the title alludes to his admitted issues with being flaky when it comes to social situations.

rain check just stood out to me,” he recalls. “It felt like the vibe of the album as a whole, and I really liked the title. I tend to bail on plans a lot; I’m a big “rain checker.” It all sprouted from there.”

Also today, Knowmadic shares new single “window pane,” the ninth of the album. Listeners are treated to a steady diet of simmering hi-hats, as open piano melodies resound in the distance.

“‘window pane’ felt like a pivot point,” reflects Knowmadic. “It has a thicker bassline, and it’s like turning the page of how the album is flowing. It reminds me of the old SoundCloud days of lofi hip-hop.

Stay tuned for rain check later this summer. For now, “window pane” is available at all digital retailers here: https://knowmadic.ffm.to/windowpane
