Dispatch and State Radio member Chadwick Stokes solo debut, Simmerkane II, released June 28 via Ruff Shod/Nettwerk Records debuted at #18 on Billboard’s Heatseekers' chart. Inspired by Stokes’ freight hopping adventures across the U.S., the 10-track album was produced by John Dragonetti (of The Submarines) and includes guest appearances from Carly Simon, Matt Embree (Rx Bandits), The White Buffalo, and Blake Hazard (The Submarines).
Featured on the digital and physical bonus versions are three songs recorded with Sierra Leone’s Refugee All Stars. National Geographic is currently offering a free download of the track, “Coffee And Wine,” and a stream of video footage from the recording session will soon follow. In September, Stokes will embark on a 12-city solo tour; see dates below.
Raised in Sherborn, MA, Stokes remains actively involved in both State Radio and Dispatch, and has scanned a combined total of 675,000+ records. In 2008, the Boston Music Awards honored Stokes as Humanitarian of the Year for creating the Elias Fund, the Dispatch Foundation, and Calling All Crows.
