John Butler Trio Shares Official Music Video "Home"; North American Tour Dates Announced

"Butler is a road warrior. Battle-hardened, but enlightened from decades on the go. It’s this unusual ride which gave life to the new project...On it, Butler explores new channels of sound. The LP represents a “genuine creative leap,” with flourishes of electronic and hip-hop production and another dive into his deep well of folk and blues." - Billboard Magazine

Today, Australia’s highest selling independent artist of all time, John Butler, has dropped the video for his latest single “Home” from the Trio’s forthcoming album HOME (out September 28 via Nettwerk Records). A gritty visual characterization of the song, the clip shows the competing elements of John’s life: on the road, on stage and of course at home as he grapples with the balance we all struggle to maintain in our own lives.

The title track is dark and brooding, yet at the same time offers hope, pushing the envelope to explore the frustrations, vulnerabilities and tensions of modern life.

Given the very personal subject matter of these new songs I pondered what it might mean to record in mainly a solo format for the first time ever,” explains Butler. “This track scratches the surface of the emotional and sonic landscape that eventually became the bedrock of the album.

Fans who’ve seen a John Butler Trio gig over recent months - including the recent sold-out show at Denver’s iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre - have already been treated to sneak previews of some new songs. Following the album’s release, the band will perform the new album to audiences in Australia, Japan, Europe and North America (see dates below).

The John Butler Trio is guitarist/vocalist John Butler, bassist Byron Luiters and percussionist Grant Gerathy.
