Headliner.fm Helps Indie-Rock Band Fun. Reach Millions Of New Fans

Online Service Headliner.fm Lets Bands Reach New Fans By Trading Recommendations

Headliner.fm, an online service that allows artists to trade music recommendations on Twitter, Facebook and Myspace, recently partnered with Nettwerk Music Group to promote the release of pop/rock trio fun.’s video for “Walking The Dog” (above) from the band’s critically-acclaimed debut album Aim And Ignite. Over a six-week period and with a subscription cost of under $300.00, Headliner.fm helped Nettwerk and fun. reach 3.6 million new targeted music fans and generated over 6,171 clicks on the “Walking The Dog” video on YouTube by creating custom promotional messages and servicing those messages to thousands of pop and rock artists in the Headliner.fm database. Those artists then shared the messages with their fans via status updates on Twitter, Facebook and MySpace. Not only was fun.’s new music video exposed to millions of new fans, but it also gained numerous fan engagements in the form of clicks, re-tweets and comments.

Headliner.fm is an online service where bands reach new fans by trading recommendations. From nationally touring major label acts like Weezer and Akon to indie musicians grinding in local venues, bands of every conceivable genre are using Headliner.fm. Since its launch in February of 2010, over 27,000 bands and artists with a combined reach over 105,000,000 fans have registered for the site.

“Headliner’s service is unique,” explains Headliner’s CEO Mike More. “Many sites offer bands opportunities to upload their music, sell directly to fans, and communicate with their current fans, but only Headliner offers bands the ability to reach the fans of thousands of other bands in real-time on Facebook, Twitter and MySpace for free or low cost.”

More continues, “Offline, bands and artists work together to reach new fans by splitting 7-inches and opening for each other on tour. Headliner takes that concept to the social web, allowing artists to leverage their existing fans and reach new ones by teaming up with other artists to trade recommendations.”

Upon the discovery of a new band on Headliner, users can send that band a status update and ask them to pass it on to their fans on Facebook, Twitter and MySpace. Each time a band recommends another band to their fans, they earn Band Bucks, which they then use to send out their own promotions to reach new fans: one Band Buck equals reach to one new fan.

"With a large focus on artist development, Nettwerk is constantly searching for new and innovative ways to promote content discovery through authentic yet effective channels. Headliner.fm gave us the opportunity to reach new audiences of targeted fans organically through the support of their band-to-band network. We see great opportunity in the cross marketing exchanges that the Headliner.fm platform fosters," says Brian Popowitz, Nettwerk Sr. Internet Marketer.

Headliner.fm empowers artists on the social web by providing the ability to reach and engage new fans in an affordable, targeted and authentic way with customized messaging and real-time tracking of promotion results.
