Last week, State Radio shared a live performance video of their song, “State of Georgia.” The song is written about death row inmate, Troy Davis, set to be executed by the state of Georgia tomorrow, September 21st. Davis has been on death row for 18 years and has received three stays of execution, twice coming within 24 hours of his death, despite a strong claim of innocence that has never been heard in a court of law. Davis was convicted on the basis of witness testimony - 7 of the 9 original witnesses have since recanted or changed their testimony. Watch it above.
Nettwerk-management client fun. has unveiled their hugely anticipated new single, the first from their upcoming Fueled By Ramen debut album. Produced by Jeff Bhasker (Kanye West, Jay-Z, Alicia Keys, Beyonce, Drake), “We Are Young (Feat. Janelle Monáe)” is available now via iTunes and all digital retailers. Stream the online video companion to the song above.
The critically acclaimed indie pop combo will celebrate the track’s release by joining their “We Are Young” collaborator, Janelle Monáe, on Reverb’s upcoming Campus Consciousness Tour. The 15-date college tour will hit campuses in the Midwest and along the East Coast through October (see attached itinerary). The biannual Campus Consciousness Tour (CCT) is both a concert and social consciousness campaign, aimed at offering students a message of environmental sustainability. In addition to supporting Monáe, fun. will take part in the CCT daytime activities by performing a free acoustic set at a central location on each campus the tour visits. For complete details and up-to-the-minute information, please see www.campusconsciousness.org.
As if all that weren’t enough, fun. will herald their new album with a very special sold-out hometown headline show, slated for November 9th at New York’s famed Bowery Ballroom. A Los Angeles show at the Troubadour is also slated for November 14th; tickets for that show go on sale on this Saturday, September 24th.
"Seductive, sleek beat, wistful melody and a vaguely noirish scene set by Dominique Durand in a voice pitched halfway between a coo and a sigh." - Rolling Stone
"A perfect choice for a lead single, 'Distant Lights' is the most danceable work from
Ivy yet." - Consequence of Sound
Indie-pop trio Ivy's first studio album in 5 years is out today. All Hours marks a self-proclaimed "rebirth," finding the NYC-based band more focused on textures and rhythms than the guitar-centric sound that has characterized their previous albums. Singer Dominique Durand describes the writing process for All Hours as an attempt to "go back to some kind of innocence, and also a feeling of energy and excitement."

Nettwerk-management artist Katherine Jenkins recently premiered her new video for "Break It To My Heart" on UK website the Daily Mail. "Break It To My Heart" is the first single from the Welsh mezzo-saprano's upcoming album Daydream, out October 17 in the UK on Warner Bros Records. The video was directed by Christopher Cottam, who also directed R&B singer Kelis' 2010 video for "Acapella."
Recorded in Los Angeles and London in spring this year, Katherine has once again teamed up with John Shanks in the U.S (credits include Take That & Westlife and Katherine’s hit 2010 single "Tell Me I’m Not Dreaming"), and Simon Franglen in London (credits include Barbra Streisand, Céline Dion and the Oscar nominated soundtrack to James Cameron’s Avatar). Her eighth and most personal album to date, Daydream draws together music and songs she loves from across classical, traditional, folk and easy pop that have inspired her over the course of her life.
Today, State Radio shares a live performance video of their song, “State of Georgia.” The song is written about death row inmate, Troy Davis, set to be executed by the state of Georgia next Wednesday, September 21st. Watch it above.
Davis has been on death row for 18 years and has received three stays of execution, twice coming within 24 hours of his death, despite a strong claim of innocence that has never been heard in a court of law. Davis was convicted on the basis of witness testimony -- seven of the nine original witnesses have since recanted or changed their testimony. In June 2010, an unprecedented evidentiary hearing was held in a federal district court in Savannah, Georgia. At the hearing, Davis presented evidence supporting his innocence claim. However, the standard of proof was “extraordinarily high” given the lack of physical and scientific evidence in his case. The federal judge ruled that Davis did not meet the high standard, despite the fact that doubts about his guilt remains unresolved.
Earlier this year, State Radio hit the road for the “State Of Troy Tour,” a month-long tour to raise awareness. In 2009, lead singer Chad Stokes, wrote a song titled “State Of Georgia,” which was lent to Amnesty International USA for a short, hard-hitting web video about the plight of Davis. Watch it below:
“One taste of ‘Seesaw Sway’ will remind you of exactly who you are dealing with: the man.” – Consequence of Sound
Peter Murphy has just revealed a brand new music video for standout track "Seesaw Sway" from his critically acclaimed ninth solo album, Ninth. Murphy recently announced a 30-city co-headline tour across North America with She Wants Revenge, which launches Thursday, November 3 in Phoenix, AZ and wraps Friday, December 9 in Pomona, CA (Hussle Club to open all dates). The full list of dates is below.
Chadwick Stokes hits the road for his fall tour in support of his solo debut Simmerkane II (Ruff Shod/Nettwerk). Beginning in Boulder at the Fox Theater, the tour includes stops in Minneapolis, Columbus, OH, Nashville and Atlanta. For west coast fans, the rescheduled tour dates resumes early 2012 with shows in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland and Seattle.
Inspired by Stokes’ freight train jumping adventures across the U.S. with his brother and cousin, Simmerkane II was produced by John Dragonetti (of The Submarines) with guest appearances from Carly Simon, Matt Embree (Rx Bandits), The White Buffalo and Blake Hazard (The Submarines).
Directed by Sam Cohen (of The Yellowbirds), the video for “Rainsong” was premiered by Huffington Post. Collected from books and magazines, everything in the video is paper collage animation and arranged by hand.
On October 11th, Grammy-nominated Morgan Page will release In The Air, a six song EP of the lead single from his forthcoming 2012 studio album. In The Air, a collaboration between Page, Sultan + Ned Shepard and BT and featuring Angela McCluskey on vocals, will include several versions of the title track, in addition to remixes by Hardwell and Hard Rock Sofa.
The Hardwell remix of “In The Air” is a punchy, synth-sonic, luscious reworking of its original. Hardwell brings rhythmic nuances with tickling percussions that perfectly compliment the raspy, seductive vocal charm of McCluskey. Russian collective, Hard Rock Sofa adds their signature style to the track, serving up an edgy, driving progressive house touch.
“In The Air" entered into the Top 10 (#9) on the Billboard Dance Radio Chart last week. The track has exploded since its debut, steadily selling more than 1,500 copies a week and remaining the highest rated record at AOL Radio.

"...front-runners for album of the year." - Buzzbands.la
Ladytron has been making their signature brand of erudite electro-pop for over a decade. Following the Best Of Ladytron: 00-10 album (released earlier this year), the band releases their deftly executed fifth studio album, Gravity The Seducer (out today). While listeners have come to expect the four-piece collective to write serenely stoic synth tracks —Gravity is a lush, orchestral, cinematic, ethereal beauty. A mastered piece of baroque n’ roll, Gravity The Seducer is best enjoyed as a whole. As such, discover one of the most anticipated albums of this year; full album stream linked below:
