Today, Nettwerk co-founder Mark Jowett presents"Tweety Bird (feat. Tea Petrovic)," the first "storysingle" of nine from his upcoming book Tubers, out in November. In this new "storysingle" format, "Tweety Bird" combines an E-story with a mini-soundtrack to that story, along with remixes of the track by Dominican Republic's Pacha Massive and Toronto's Jeremy Glenn.
Travelling in the subways of New York, London and Paris over the years in his role as a partner at Nettwerk, Jowett (Cinderpop/Moev) began to construct stories around the extraordinary characters he would meet in the subways, along with music that included “found sounds” of trains and overheard conversations he would record while riding the trains.
The result is Tubers, a collection of nine stories with three taking place in each city. Each story has a musical theme and an illicit or nefarious act. Tubers will be published by Read Leaf books in early November. The book contains mesmerizing illustrations, a limited edition 7” and a coupon to download the accompanying Tubers album (Popoganda Records/Nettwerk), which features vocals by Kevan Ellis, Tea Petovic and Heather Ray, combined with bonus remixes by Pacha Massive and renowned house minimalist Kate Simko.
Oscar®, Tony, Grammy and Emmy-winning composers have completed A Symphony of Hope: The Haiti Project, a musical collaboration to benefit the victims of last year’s earthquake in Haiti. Produced by Christopher Lennertz and Steve Schnur, the album features the unique musical voices of 25 composers, in addition to 90 musicians and a 60-person choir. Composers include Marvin Hamlisch (The Informant, A Chorus Line, The Way We Were), John Debney (The Passion of the Christ, Bruce Almighty, Iron Man 2), Christopher Young (Spiderman 3, The Grudge) and Dave Grusin (The Milagro Bean Field War, The Fabulous Baker Boys). All proceeds will go through partner charity, Hands Together.
Nettwerk is thrilled to share the news that Aussie sibling duo Angus & Julia Stone will have a previously unreleased track called "Love Will Take You" featured on the upcoming soundtrack for 'The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1.' The tracklisting was revealed on the film's social networks yesterday. Ivy's frontwoman, Parisian-born singer Dominique Durand, chatted with NPRWeekend All Things Considered host Guy Raz about the band's new album, All Hours. The feature ran this past Sunday, September 25, but is available for streaming on NPR.org here: http://n.pr/nPJvMX.
Nettwerk Records is excited to announce the release of the Original Motion Picture Soundtrackfor Janie Jones (Tribeca Film) on October 11, 2011. The soundtrack features 11 songs, eight of which were performed by the film’s lead actors, Academy Award® nominee Abigail Breslin (Little Miss Sunshine, My Sister’s Keeper) and Alessandro Nivola (Laurel Canyon, Coco Before Chanel), in addition to tracks from recording artists William Fitzsimmons, Gemma Hayes and Patrick Watson.
In this music-based independent film, an on-the-road musician is forced to take responsibility for the daughter he never knew he had. Janie Jones is a heartwarming rock ‘n’ roll road drama from writer-director David M. Rosenthal (Falling Up), inspired by his own experiences. Rocker Ethan Brand (Nivola) and his band are on the comeback trail when a former flame (Oscar® nominee Elisabeth Shue) drops a bomb in his lap—their 13-year-old daughter, Janie Jones (Breslin). Ethan refuses to believe Janie is his kid, but when her mom suddenly leaves for rehab, the child has no place to go but on tour with the band. With no feel for fatherhood, Ethan continues his hard-living ways, leaving Janie to fend for herself in the dive bars and sleazy motels along the way. As Ethan’s self-destructive spiral threatens the group’s future, his band members desert him one by one, until he and Janie are left alone. Desperate to finish the tour and revive his career, Ethan stays on the road as a solo act with Janie in tow, where her surprising musical talents help guide him down the rocky road to redemption.

Norwegian tongue-in-cheek electronic/dance band Datarock will return to the States for a handful of October dates in Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles and New York City (full list of dates below).
Dressed in matching red tracksuits, Datarock were one of several groups labeled by the UK press as "new rave" back in 2006, combining inspiration from Devo, Talking Heads, and Happy Mondays. For the past decade, the band have melded indie dance, new wave, pop, punk and funk into a custom sound responsible for a steady stream of unforgettable tracks and performances. They've done everything from tearing the roof off Coachella to appearing on Yo Gabba Gabba, and now the band returns with an EP called "California," featuring 5 tracks from their forthcoming project, DATAROCK - the musical. With 800 shows in 35 countries under their belt, who can blame them...

Nettwerk Records and Ladytron are pleased to celebrate the band’s career high album debut, with Gravity The Seducer landing at #2 on Billboard's Heatseekers Chart, as well as #6 on the Electronic Albums Chart, #79 on the Overall Digital Albums Chart and #112 on the Billboard Top 200.
Starting October 29th, State Radio will be touring the east coast with special performances from Massachusetts to DC, encouraging social awareness within the local and global communities.
To kick things off, the band and their fans will walk the Northampton streets in costume. That is, before State Radio's Halloween show at the Calvin Theater, band members and hundreds of fans from throughout the Northeast will participate in the 3rd annual Calling All Crows’ Northampton Halloween 5K. This zany, fun run/walk -- in costume through the streets of Downtown Northampton, Massachusetts -- will help Calling All Crows raise funds to support 50 Afghan women with shelter and education for one year. Last week, State Radio shared a live performance video of their song, “State of Georgia.” The song is written about death row inmate, Troy Davis, set to be executed by the state of Georgia tomorrow, September 21st. Davis has been on death row for 18 years and has received three stays of execution, twice coming within 24 hours of his death, despite a strong claim of innocence that has never been heard in a court of law. Davis was convicted on the basis of witness testimony - 7 of the 9 original witnesses have since recanted or changed their testimony. Watch it above.
Nettwerk-management client fun. has unveiled their hugely anticipated new single, the first from their upcoming Fueled By Ramen debut album. The biannual Campus Consciousness Tour (CCT) is both a concert and social consciousness campaign, aimed at offering students a message of environmental sustainability. In addition to supporting Monáe, fun. will take part in the CCT daytime activities by performing a free acoustic set at a central location on each campus the tour visits. As if all that weren’t enough, fun. will herald their new album with a very special sold-out hometown headline show, slated for November 9th at New York’s famed Bowery Ballroom. "Seductive, sleek beat, wistful melody and a vaguely noirish scene set by Dominique Durand in a voice pitched halfway between a coo and a sigh." - Rolling Stone
"A perfect choice for a lead single, 'Distant Lights' is the most danceable work from
Ivy yet." - Consequence of Sound
Indie-pop trio Ivy's first studio album in 5 years is out today. All Hours marks a self-proclaimed "rebirth," finding the NYC-based band more focused on textures and rhythms than the guitar-centric sound that has characterized their previous albums. Singer Dominique Durand describes the writing process for All Hours as an attempt to "go back to some kind of innocence, and also a feeling of energy and excitement."
