Passenger Premieres "Let Her Go" Video On MTV Iggy; Announces Solo Stops In LA And NYC

“Passenger entertains a lucky live audience with his accented, raspy alto emphasized with liberal acoustic guitar and a tear-evoking string section.”
-- MTV Iggy on the “Let Her Go” video

UK folk artist Passenger (Mike Rosenberg) has released a music video for his heart-breaking single, “Let Her Go,” from his forthcoming album All The Little Lights, out August 28, 2012. “Let Her Go,” which is available today in iTunes, broaches the familiar feeling of ending a relationship, only to then wonder about what could have been. The video premiered yesterday on MTV Iggy.com: http://bit.ly/NOYgBQ.

"It's about taking things for granted until they're gone, yet there's a little glimmer of hope,” says Rosenberg.

Already critically lauded in Australia and the UK, All The Little Lights was recorded at Linear Studios in Sydney (Empire of the Sun and Josh Pyke) and is the most accomplished Passenger record to date. “It’s very different to [the last album] Flight Of The Crow,” says Rosenberg. “This one is a bigger production and a bit more modern sounding.”

Passenger spent the last couple of months playing sold-out headline dates in the UK and Europe, and will join Ed Sheeran on his North American and UK tour dates, starting September 17th in Toronto. Prior to the Ed Sheeran tour, Passenger will make two special stops for solo shows in Los Angeles at the Hotel Café on Friday, September 7th and in New York City at The Living Room on Thursday, September 13th. Shiny Toy Guns Unveil Short Film Video For Single “Waiting Alone”

“In what could be one of the most ambitious music videos from an independent band, Shiny Toy Guns‘ Carah Faye and Jeremy Dawson went to great lengths to tell the story of ‘the love runner’ in their new video for ‘Waiting Alone.’” --Jay “Lightning” Tilles, KROQ.com (July 17, 2012)

Los Angeles’ Shiny Toy Guns newest track “Waiting Alone” marks the return of Carah Faye, the original vocalist who along with band mates Chad Petree (vocals/guitars), Jeremy Dawson (keyboards/bass) and Mikey Martin (drums), propelled Shiny Toy Guns into the spotlight with their first hits “Le Disko” and “You Are The One” from their debut 2006 release We Are Pilots. Now, the band has made available the “Waiting Alone” video, which made its debut yesterday on VEVO.

Conceptualized by Faye and Dawson and directed by Luke Eberl and Edgar Morais, the 6 minute and 45 second short film titled "#Loverunner" finds a girl (Carah), running cross-country from Los Angeles to New York City in a quest to join the love of her life, overcoming daunting obstacles posed by a mysterious evil figure. During the making of the video, the band covered almost 6,000 miles through 22 states over 24 days, filming at such landmarks as the Grand Canyon, Pike's Peak, the Alamo and the Empire State Building. Shiny Toy Guns’ Chad Petree, who sings lead vocal on the song, is also featured in the piece.

“Waiting Alone” appears on the band’s third album III, due out in October on Five Seven Music. Look for a remix by L.A. Riots to be made available soon.

Junkie XL Collaborates with Hans Zimmer For Batman Film, 'Dark Knight Rises'; Creates Music For Video Game, 'Shinjuku'

Dutch-born musician, remixer and producer Junkie XL (aka Tom Holkenborg) works with Oscar-winning film composer, Hans Zimmer, on the latest Batman film, Dark Knight Rises. Included on the soundtrack is a Junkie XL remix of musical cue, “Bombers Over Ibiza.” To listen to the remix, see above.

This is not the first time the two have worked together. Since 2010, Zimmer has enlisted the talents of Holkenborg on several films – Inception, Madagascar 3, Megamind – as well as other musical projects, including this year’s remix of the The Academy Awards® theme song.

Other composers who have worked with Zimmer – John Powell (Rio, the Bourne series, Mr.. & Mrs. Smith) and Harry Gregson-Williams (Shrek) - later made the ultimate step towards their own big Hollywood scores.

Speaking on the collalboration, Holkenborg says, "signing up for one of the biggest Hollywood film series is a dream of mine. Hans began with Rain Man in the '80s and has composed music for a hundred-plus films. For me, he is not only a friend and colleague, but a living legend and a true mentor. It is both an education and inspiration to work with Hans, day in and day out."

Starting July 21st, Family Of The Year will share the stage with Milo Greene on select dates in the US, followed by a month-long tour with Hey Ocean!. The band has already played sold-out shows in England and across Europe, including a triumphant set at France’s renowned music festival Les Vieilles Charrues, and garnered support stints with Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, Mumford & Sons, Grouplove, Good Old War, Belle Brigade and more.  To get a glimpse of the "live" sound, check out the above stripped down performance on Wilcox Sessions taping, filmed in Los Angeles.

The band is excited to hit the road to perform new songs and already-familiar tracks from last year’s St. Croix EP; which was heralded by NPR as “ebullient, full of stylistic left turns” and “intense and atmospheric” by Rolling Stone.

Enlisting producer Wally Gagel (Rolling Stones, Muse, New Order, Sebadoh, Rihanna, Eels, Folk Implosion), this is the first time that the band has gone outside their own camp while recording their music. “Having him work with us was really helpful, because you have to be pushed to edit yourself and be better, be stronger, work harder on things,” says lead vocalist/guitars, Joe Keefe. “Working with someone like that who knows exactly what we wanted it to sound like with the same exact vision, it was really kind of a no-brainer.”

Producer/Mixer David Bottrill Smashes Into The Charts w/Oceania, The New Album From Smashing Pumpkins

Bottrill mixed Oceania, the first new album from Billy Corgan and company since 2007’s Zeitgeist. Oceania debuted at #4 on the Billboard Top 200 album chart June 19th while the first single from the album, The Celestials, is currently in the top 40 at Alternative radio and climbing.

Bottrill’s work can be heard next on the forthcoming double album from the massively successful rock band Stone Sour, on which David just completed production.

Wanting's Debut Album 'Everything In The World' Goes Platinum In China In Its First Week!

Watch the lyric video for “我的歌声里 (You Exist In My Song),” a track recorded in Wanting’s native tongue of Mandarin, from her debut album Everything In The World.

Vancouver-based, Chinese-born artist Wanting has gone Platinum in China in just one week with her debut album, Everything In The World, which Universal Music China (via a licensing deal with Nettwerk) released on July 5th. Though based in Canada, Wanting has spent the past few years building a rabid online following via Chinese YouTube, and most recently had the song “Drenched” from her debut album prominently featured in the Chinese indie-flick Love In The Buff.

Nettwerk CEO Terry McBride (who also personally manages this rising talent) comments on Wanting’s success in China: “Everything In The World is an album three years in the making. Wanting delivered an authentic and heartfelt album that I believed would not only resonate with her generation, but would also transcend language boundaries and talk to a worldwide audience. It was essential that we had the right partners in China to deliver this album properly, and we found that in Universal Music China.”

Everything In The World was released via Nettwerk Records in North America on April 24, and her unique story quickly caught the attention of the CBC flagship nightly news program The National
