Guster's lead singer Ryan Miller has scored his first film, Big Beach Films' Safety Not Gauranteed, which TheHuffington Postcalls, "an indie score worthy of John Williams." The soundtrack for the film will be released on ABKCO Records on June 5, in advance of the film's opening in New York, LA, Portand and Seattle on June 8.
“I've been a full-time musician for the past 18 years and I can say, without exaggeration, that my involvement with Safety Not Guaranteed has been one of the true highlights of my career," noted Miller. “It's been an incredible and indelible experience watching something grow from the germ of an idea to a feature film that has gathered supporters, fans and believers every step of the way. I can't wait to see where this leads all of us -- the cast, the crew and myself -- I have a sneaking suspicion this may be one of those films we're still talking about years down the road.”
The film, starring Aubrey Plaza, Mark Duplass, Jake Johnson and Karan Soni, is directed by Colin Trevorrow and written by Derek Connolly, who received the 2012 Sundance Film Festival’s Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award for his screenplay. The film is produced by Marc Turtletaub and Peter Saraf, the production team behind the Academy Award winning Little Miss Sunshine, along with Stephanie Langhoof, Trevorrow and Connolly.
The track “Big Machine,” written by Miller, is performed in the film by Duplass’ character and the soundtrack album is bookended with a studio recording of the song by Duplass, an accomplished musician in his own right. Other soundtrack highlights include Guster’s “Architects And Engineers,” along with “She’s Bound To Get Hurt” by Philadelphia-based indie band Summer Fiction and The Hoppin’ Haole Brothers’ ukulele-powered “Litter Box Beach.” Also featured is “Hard On Your Man,” an unreleased track from Hearts On Fire, a band that included Bob “Woody” Trevorrow, the father of Safety Not Guaranteed director Colin Tervorrow.
Grammy®-winning Writer/Producer Matt Serletic is shooting up the charts once again with the new single “(Kissed You) Good Night” from Gloriana. “(Kissed You) Good Night” peaked at #1 on the iTunes Country chart, and is heading for the Top 10 at Country Radio. Serletic signed, developed, wrote and produced the band’s breakthrough debut album for his own Emblem Records, including the #1 hit “Wild At Heart”, in 2009. "(Kissed You) Good Night" is the first single from the band’s follow up album, A Thousand Miles Left Behind, due out July 31st.

Dispatch has unveiled the director's cut of the video for their song "Not Messin'" via their YouTube Channel. Directed by so pa Productions (Coachella & Bonnaroo documentaries, The Low Anthem, Alexi Murdoch), the video was shot at Mishnock Barn in West Greenwich, RI - home of the region's best line dancing. More than 150 enthusiastic fans responded to Dispatch's call out for extras, and arrived at the video shoot location in their best Country Western attire.
Mishnock Barn is a location hand picked by the band, as the barn is located next door to LakeWest Recording Studio where the band recorded their early albums Bang Bang, Four-Day Trials, and Who Are We Living For?. Mishnock Barn owners Dan and Kelly Albro recruited and taught their line dancing regulars to perform the line dance that made an appearance in the video. The storyline and concept was a collaboration between Dispatch members and so pa.
