The Pack A.D., Current Swell, Royal Canoe, Passenger And More Nominated For CBC Music Awards

Nettwerk Music Group congratulates its artists for their CBC Music Awards nominations.

The Pack A.D was nominated in two categories: Best Live Show and Best Independent Artist. The garage rock duo's newest album Do Not Engage saw a career best chart debut entering the Top 200 at #87, hitting #16 on the Alternative Albums chart and #54 on the Digital Albums chart. The Pack A.D. also set a new record at Canadian College radio with Do Not Engage charting #1 for 10 consecutive weeks at the !earshot National Top 50.

Victoria B.C's Current Swell was nominated for Best Fan Engagement, recognized for a well curated instagram stream, a steady online dialogue with fans and for always having time to hang out after a show. Released on May 6, Current Swell’s latest album Ulysses landed at #1 on the Rock iTunes chart, #10 on the Alternative Albums Chart and reached a career high Top 50 debut on the Top 200 chart. The latest single “Rollin’” was recently the #1 most added track at Alternative Rock Radio and is now #24, in the competitive formats Top 30 chart.

Mike Rosenberg, aka Passenger, was nominated Best International Album for the critically acclaimed Whispers, which saw career high chart debuts around the globe. In the U.S, it landed at #12 on the Billboard 200, #5 in his native UK, #2 in Australia and Canada, #3 in New Zealand and the Netherlands and #6 in Germany.

Australia's Boy & Bear was nominated for Best International Album for sophomore album Harlequin Dream. In Australia, the album had a steady run at #1, was certified Gold, and received several ARIA Award nominations, including Best Group, Best Rock Album and Producer Of The Year. This follows their award-winning debut LP Moonfire, which won five awards at 2011 ARIAs, including the coveted group and best album prizes.

What's That Song In The Facebook "Say Thanks" Campaign? It’s Radical Face!

Facebook recently launched a new “Say Thanks” feature, which allows their users to create personalized video cards for Facebook friends. It gained the most attention last week went Mark Zuckerberg himself created a video or his wife Priscilla Chan. But if you were wondering what the moving and melodic background music featured in the video is, it’s none other than Nettwerk’s own Radical Face and his song “Always Gold” from the album The Family Tree: The Roots. A second song also from the same album, “Severus and Stone,” is used in the latest “Say Thanks” video direct at family members.

The Family Tree: The Roots is the first of The Family Tree trilogy, released in 2012. The second installment of the trilogy, The Family Tree: The Branches, was released last October. Watch the latest music video for the song “The Mute” below:

Sinead O'Connor Joins Band Aid 30 To Help Raise Awareness For West Africa's Ebola Crisis

Nettwerk's Sinead O'Connor is among the many artists brought together by Irish singer Bob Geldof and Scottish musician and songwriter Midge Ure to record a 30th anniversary version of the charity single - "Do They Know It's Christmas?" - to raise money to fight the Ebola crisis in West Africa. Originally written in 1984, the single was released to raise awareness and funds for the Ethiopian famine in 1983-1985.

Band Aid 30, the 2014 incarnation of the charity supergroup Band Aid, also includes Bono, Ed Sheeran, Robert Plant, One Direction, Sam Smith, Chris Martin (Coldplay), Ellie Goulding, Rita Ora, Seal and more. Recorded on November 15, 2014, watch the official music video above.

Alexi Murdoch's "Song For You" is featured in the heartwarming Christmas television commercial for UK pharmacy Boots, which had its first play during the finale of Downton Abbey this past Sunday. 

Alexi Murdoch is a musician, writer and singer who was born in London and raised
in Scotland, Greece and France before traveling to the United States to attended university in North Carolina, where he had heard there was good mountain countryside. He currently lives between New York and a small house on the remote west coast of Scotland, where he spends his days writing and sailing on a small, 92-year-old wooden sail boat. Since the release of his latest record, 2011's critically acclaimed Towards the Sun, he has played a number of sold out concert dates in Europe and North America, including appearances at prestigious venues like London's Union Chapel, Berlin's Admiralspalast, Lincoln Center's American Songbook Series in New York, the Montreal Jazz Festival and Mexico City's Lunario del Auditorio Nacional.

He is planning the release of his third album in 2015, the product of recording sessions in Quebec and Iceland.

Frazey Ford Unveils Video For "September Fields" Featuring Hi Rhythm Section

Frazey Ford has premiered a new video for single “September Fields” from her latest solo album, the critically acclaimed Indian Ocean. The video, which premiered on The Wall Street Journal (here), features a special look inside the album’s recording at Memphis’s historic Royal Studios with the iconic Hi Rhythm Section (Charles Hodges, Leroy Hodges and the late Teenie Hodges).

The “September Fields” video was shot by filmmaker Robert Gordon (PBS's "Can’t Be Satisfied: The Life And Times Of Muddy Waters"), who is responsible for connecting Frazey with the Hi Rhythm Section; after learning of her music while working on a documentary on Memphis soul, he invited her to Royal Studios to record. Frazey is the beneficiary of the Hi Rhythm Section’s almighty talents, the trio accentuating her sensual and opulent vocals with deep-bottomed bass, subtle backbeats, and airy flights of organ.

Ash Koley Releases New Single "Criminal"

Canadian alt-pop duo Ash Koley return with the new single “Criminal.” Co-written by Justin Grey (John Legend, Ryan Cabrera, Mariah Carey), “Criminal” is the debut single from Ash Koley’s forthcoming album slated for release in 2015.

Ash Koley had major success with the single “Don’t Let Your Feet Touch Ground” in 2011, which peaked Top 10 at Canadian radio, reached an audience in excess of 250 million listeners, and was licensed to Lotto 649 for a year-long national promotion. Ash Koley have toured Canada coast to coast with internationally recognized artists Sarah Mclachlan and Ron Sexsmith.
